About

Female graduates of Eastern Kentucky University have been enormously successful, and like other women across the country, we have been able to break down barriers and open new doors. Although our individual experiences have been unique, we know that Eastern has played a central role in shaping our approach to the world. Not only do we acknowledge the continued impact of our own Eastern experiences as we emerge in our communities, workplaces, and world as leaders, we also recognize EKU as an institution that has cultivated and encouraged women’s leadership. We believe in the Power of EKU Women, we want to make sure that current and future Colonels experience the encouragement and support that has been such a powerful force in our lives.

Let’s make sure that Eastern continues to be a place of opportunity for female leaders. Let’s take action together.

We are working to build a network of EKU alumni committed to supporting women’s leadership at our Alma Mater with the ultimate goal of starting a Women’s Leadership Scholarship for promising female leaders attending Eastern. We hope that you decide to join us in making the development of a Women’s Leadership Scholarship at Eastern a priority.

As a major part of the initiative to start a Women’s Leadership Scholarship, a team of Colonels will be  fundraising as they train to run in the Disney Princess Half Marathon on February 24, 2013.  We’ve formed a team of Colonels who will be running together; in addition to soliciting funds through this website, we’ll be helping each other make it across the finish line. All of the funds raised by our team will be directed toward the creation of an EKU Women’s Leadership Scholarship. We plan to raise $10,000 total.

We encourage you to get involved in this initiative, get connected with your fellow alumni, and to help make this scholarship a reality by contributing a donation of any size.

If you have any questions or are interested in getting involved, please contact us at easternfurther@gmail.com.
