For Love of Eastern

“I will admit to you that I love Eastern, and when my service in the presidency is finished, if I have helped more of you love her too, then I will have done my job.” President Whitlock delivered this memorable line during the Fall 2007 Convocation at the start of his first year as EKU’s President. With President Whitlock having announced his plans for retirement, what better time than now to demonstrate our love for Eastern and to show him that he has excelled at his job? We know that there are many students and alumni who have been influenced by President Whitlock’s devotion to EKU, and we certainly count ourselves among them. Many of the women of Eastern Further who are working to establish a women’s leadership scholarship for EKU spent their time at Eastern during the Whitlock Presidency, and he has indeed helped us to love Eastern.

We hope that many of you will decide to make a contribution to the Eastern Further Women’s Leadership Scholarship during this fiscal year, a campaign that is driven by our love for the University. But more than anything, we hope that you will reflect on the richness of your student experience at Eastern and decide to donate to the University accordingly. When Phonathon callers begin their Fall campaign on September 9th, we hope that you remember that Eastern has given you the challenge of Chautauqua lectures, the quiet solace of the Ravine, the excitement of a winning touchdown at Roy Kidd Stadium, and the opportunity to engage in a community of learning. Your donations to the University help make sure that the Eastern will stay a place where students can find opportunity and thrive. And remember, your donations don’t have to be large to make a difference.
